Former Delta Airlines Exec May Be Tapped For FAA Administrator

President Trump Is Said To Be Considering Steve Dickerson For The Post

President Donald Trump may be close to naming his top choice as the next administrator of the FAA, according to agency and industry sources.

Reuters reports that Trump's top choice for the post is Steve Dickerson, who recently retired from Delta Airlines as senior vice president of global flight operations. Dickerson had a 27-year career with the airline.

While at Delta, Dickerson had responsibility for the carrier's 13,000 pilots and an internal support team. He was type-rated in Airbus A320 and Boeing 737s, 757s and 767. He is also a former U.S. Air Force officer who F-15s.

If he is selected and confirmed, Dickerson would replace Daniel Elwell, who has served as acting administrator since Michael Huerta stepped down from the post when his term ended 14 months ago.

Neither the White House or Dickerson responded to requests for comment, according to Reuters.
