Sinclair, Altavian Partner To Expand UAS Training Nationally

Program Now Included New Fixed- And Rotary-Wing Aircraft

Sinclair College and Florida-based unmanned aerial systems (UAS) manufacturer Altavian, Inc. have expanded their partnership to include Altavian’s newly launched fixed-wing Nova F7200 and the Galaxy R8700 octocopter.

In 2014, Sinclair’s National UAS Training and Certification Center partnered with Altavian as their original equipment manufacturer (OEM) training provider in an industry leading commitment to professional UAS training in support of commercial operations. The addition of the industry leading F7200 and R8700 aircraft to the partnership has generated significant market interest with 14 training groups already committed to begin training on the new vehicles.

“As Altavian’s national OEM training provider, we are very pleased to expand our partnership,” said Deb Norris, Senior Vice President for Sinclair Workforce Development. “By working together, we are advancing the UAS industry, establishing the national benchmark of professional UAS training, and developing business for both the Dayton region and the national market. Our college is committed to helping employers fill training needs and we are making our impact felt in this rapidly growing and fast changing industry.”

Sinclair’s National UAS Training and Certification Center will provide training for Altavian’s F7200 and R8700 through three week custom online prerequisite courses followed by three and a half day hands-on instruction and flight operations leveraging Sinclair’s Section 333 Exemption and multiple Certificates of Authorization (COAs). Training may occur in the Dayton, Ohio region or at other approved sites nationally that are convenient to Altavian’s customers.

“Sinclair is the gold standard for UAS training and education,” said Thomas Rambo, Chief Operating Officer for Altavian. “They have been an outstanding training partner to Altavian for years and the obvious training partner choice as we launch our new products.”
