NBAA Charities Creating New Scholarship

Fund Established In Honor Of Former Business Aviation Flight Attendant Dale ‘Potsy’ McBurney

NBAA Charities has announced plans to create a scholarship to honor the late Dale “Potsy” McBurney, a former business aviation flight attendant, flight attendant trainer and member of the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee.

The committee announced its plans at NBAA’s Flight Attendants/Flight Technicians Conference, which was held from June 19 to 21 in West Palm Beach, FL. Funds collected for the scholarship will be used to support flight attendants seeking professional development in their careers as a business aviation flight attendants. Applications and specific use of the funds will be announced later this year.

McBurney was dedicated to promoting the role of the business aviation flight attendant and excelled in professionalism, customer service, culinary talents, mentoring and leadership skills. Since 2006, he was a highly regarded and requested corporate flight attendant, a recognized and respected trainer and industry specialist, an executive for a FAR 91 flight department and a valued member of the NBAA Flight Attendants Committee.

"Creating a scholarship in honor of Potsy McBurney would be a lasting testament to his influential impact on this industry, and an outstanding way to honor all he did to promote business aviation flight attendants,” said Elaine Lapotosky, vice chair of NBAA’s Flight Attendants Committee and director of operations for Jet Professionals, LLC. “The NBAA Flight Attendants Committee hopes the many who were influenced by him will help us in this endeavor.”

The NBAA Flight Attendants Committee is encouraging donations to help create the scholarship for future flight attendants who exhibit the traits McBurney exemplified. Donations may be made by check, payable to “NBAA Charities,” and sent to NBAA. Please note in the check remarks “Potsy Scholarship Fund.”

Donations may be sent to: NBAA Charities, c/o Potsy Scholarship Fund, 1200 G St. NW, Suite 1100, Washington, DC 20005.
