Third Heavy-Lift Ariane 5 Mission Of Year

Arianespace tells ANN the third heavy-lift Ariane 5 mission of 2007 has been cleared for its August 14 liftoff, following last week's successful launch readiness review, which was performed at the Spaceport in French Guiana.

This review is a milestone prior to every Arianespace flight, and it validates the readiness of Ariane 5, its payload, the infrastructure at Europe's Spaceport and the network of downrange tracking stations.

All is now set for Ariane 5's transfer on August 13 from its Final Assembly Building to the ELA-3 launch pad, where the final countdown will lead to a liftoff the following day, at the opening of a window runs from 2044 to 2121 local time at French Guiana.

The Ariane 5 has been fitted with a dual-passenger payload of Hughes Network Systems' SPACEWAY 3 and B-SAT Corporation's BSAT-3a satellites.
