QASAR Goes To Risk Assessment Leader For Commercial Crew
Program
NASA has presented its Quality and Safety Achievement
Recognition, or QASAR, award for 2011 to Teri L. Hamlin of Manvel,
Texas.
The QASAR award recognizes individual government and contractor
employees who have demonstrated exemplary performance in
contributing to the quality and/or safety of products, services,
processes, or management programs and activities.
Hamlin, who leads risk assessment activities for NASA's
Commercial Crew Program, received the award for developing safety
products and services to support informed decision making in human
spaceflight programs including the space shuttle. One study she
conducted gave NASA a better means of assessing the risk of new and
future space programs by showing how it applied lessons learned in
past programs.
"Teri's dedication and professionalism throughout her tenure in
the Space Shuttle Program was invaluable in helping management
assess risks to ensure safety of flight," said Michael Coats,
director of NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston. "Her support of
shuttle and risk assessment efforts for future programs made her a
perfect candidate to support the Commercial Crew Program, which is
so important to returning Americans to space on a U.S. built
spacecraft."
Hamlin was recognized along with four other award recipients
February 23 at the agency's ninth annual Project Management
Challenge in Orlando, FL.
