Still Faces Charges For Airplane Theft
The teenage pilot who
stole a Piper Cherokee earlier this month and led authorities on a
daring aerial chase has accepted a plea agreement in a
Murfreesboro, TN court.
As Aero-News reported February
4, Nathan Wayne Frost was a busy guy on the night of
February 1. After an argument with another teen over his
girlfriend, Frost stole a feed truck, drove to the Shelbyville
Airport and commandeered the aircraft.
The 16-year-old then circled over his girlfriend's home, scaring
residents (but wowing police officers) with his aerial antics
before finally landing in Murfreesboro and making a run for it...
to a fast food restaurant.
"The kid was a good pilot," said Rutherford County Sheriff's
Deputy Scott Daniel to the Murfreesboro Daily News-Journal.
By pleading guilty to charges of reckless endangerment, all
other charges against Frost will be dismissed.
Defense attorney Tony Maples said Frost "had one bad night."
Maples asked Juvenile Court Judge Donna Scott to postpone a
disposition on Frost's case until he answers charges in Bedford
County for taking the airplane. Frost stole the Cherokee from the
Shelbyville airport.
Scott scheduled Frost's next hearing March 13, placing him under
house arrest until then. Should Bedford County release him before
then, Frost may only go to school or stay with his parents.
Oh, and he also can't contact his (ex?) girlfriend.
If Frost keeps his nose clean, Maples said he hopes to get the
teen's record erased completely.
