Aspen EFD1000 Glass Panel Retrofit System Deliveries 'Imminent'

Submits Final Package Requesting FAA Certification of EFD1000

Aspen Avionics tells ANN that it has completed all of its FAA certification work and testing of the EFD1000 Pilot and Pro Primary Flight Displays (PFDs).

All of the documentation for TSO (Technical Standard Order) and STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) has been submitted to the FAA Aircraft Certification Office (ACO) for final review and approval. This means that the EFD1000 has completed all certification testing, the documentation is complete, and the product is ready to go.

In other words, FAA certification is near... and it couldn't come too soon. The backlog for this innovative glass panel retrofit system  is said to be considerable.

Aspen notes that "the FAA and Aspen have enjoyed an excellent working relationship over the past 18 months since initiating this project to certify the Evolution Flight Display System under TSO and STC. By working closely with the FAA at every step, we have been able to resolve questions and issues in real-time."

The company also claims that, "We are on track for shipping FAA certified Evolution Flight Displays to Aspen Authorized Dealers by the end of March, and for beginning customer installations in April."
