Need A Jet? There's An App For That

JetSmarter Allows Direct Charter Booking Through Mobile Devices

The ground transportation service Uber has made some waves allowing people to go online and call for a private car to take them where they want to go. JetSmarter is kind of an Uber on steroids ... and the transportation is by private jet.

The Boca Raton, FL-based company is about a year old, according to a report in the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Founder Sergey Petrossov said that potential passengers can book a flight on a private jet online at prices ranging from $5,000 to $600,000.

JetSmarter currently has 36 employees and projects sales of $25 million this year. Petrossov ... a native of Russia and a University of Florida graduate ... says that along with the rich and famous, JetSmarter appeals to frequent business travelers who are looking to avoid airport security and possible flight delays.

The company has partnerships with 800 vendors with access to 3,200 airplanes around the world. Jeff Reis, managing director of Executive Air Services in South Florida, said the service allows operators to fill seats on empty leg runs. The company does not actually own any airplanes, working with independent operators to help them earn revenue on otherwise deadhead flights.

The app is free, but  of course, there are perks available for those who pay a $6,999 loyalty program fee. The perks include a points reward program and access to exclusive events.
