Mitsubishi 300 Involved In Runway Excursion Incident

Overran Ruston, LA, Airport Runway In Emergency Landing

A Mitsubishi 300 which suffered electrical problems on a flight from Shreveport, LA to Destin, FL was involved in a runway excursion Saturday at Ruston, LA. The airplane ran off the end of the runway during an emergency landing following what the pilot described as an electrical failure.

Television station KTBS reports that the pilot requested the landing at Ruston, but found he was not able to stop the airplane before reaching the runway threshold. The plane ran about 400 yards past the end of the runway, according to the Ruston Police Department.

None of the five passengers or two crew were injured in the incident. The crew was able to quickly extinguish the wheel fires that likely resulted from the hard braking as the pilot attempted to stop the airplane.

FAA records indicate that the Mitsubishi is registerd to DM3J Aviation LLC in Nashville, TN. (Photo provided by Ruston Police Department)
