Dale Earnhardt Jr. On Board Citation That Went Off Runway

No Injuries Reported In Tennessee Accident

Well-known racing personality, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife, were involved in an off-runway excursion that severely trashed a Cessna Citation, Thursday, but thankfully resulted in no serious injuries to those aboard.

Among those reported on board, along with Earnhardt, were his wife and daughter. No other persons have thus far been reported to be on board the aircraft at the time of the incident, outside of the two pilots.

The Citation experienced some as yet unknown difficulty after landing at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee. The aircraft was seen to go off the end of the runway, incur significant damage, and catch fire.

A family member confirmed, via twitter, that the Earnhardt family were OK... "I can confirm Dale, Amy & Isla along with his two pilots were involved in a crash in Bristol TN this afternoon. Everyone is safe and has been taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We have no further information at this time. Thank you for your understanding."

Media reports said that the flight crew were well familiar with the airport, and that they had flown in and out of it a number of times.

The NTSB has reportedly dispatched two investigators to the scene.
