The Czech Republic Is A Major Player In Light Sport Aircraft

Many U.S. Flight Schools Depend On Them

There are 22 members of the Sport Aircraft Manufacturers Association in the Czech Republic. Their members annually produce more than 400 aircraft, 1400 propeller units, and 1500 separate instruments. Annually they generate export sales valued at about 1 billion crowns (almost $51.4 million) for the Czech Republic.

The Light Aircraft Association of the Czech Republic is an association of pilots, builders, designers, manufacturers and operators of aircraft weighing up to 992 lbs (450kg). They have more than 7,000 members.

Besides aircraft, these manufacturers make aircraft components such as propellers, brakes, electronics and even micro-jet engines. They manufacture over 70 different aircraft, 9 different engines, 36 paragliders, 10 different paramotors, a few different parachutes, and they offer a large assortment of aviation services.

Twenty-four percent of LSA's are from the Czech Republic. Ninety-five percent of their production is exported around the world. There were nine Czech Republic exhibitors at AirVenture 2013.
