Ms. Louise Maillett Named FAA Senior Counsel
FAA Administrator Marion C. Blakey has named
Louise E. Maillett as Senior Counsel to the Administrator.
In this position, Maillett (sorry about the tiny photo) will
provide advice and assistance to senior agency officials on policy
and other emerging issues affecting aviation transportation and
programs.
"In my short time at the agency, I have learned to value
Louise’s solid advice and recommendations on many important
aviation issues," said Blakey. "Her distinguished service in
government and wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of aviation
issues will be a valuable resource to the agency."
Since August 2003, Maillett served as FAA’s acting
Assistant Administrator for the Office of Policy, Planning and
International Aviation. Her responsibilities included developing
national and international aviation system policies, goals and
priorities.

She
represented the United States on several International Civil
Aviation Organization issues, and helped formulate the phase-out of
less quiet "Stage 2" aircraft within the United States. Maillett
was also instrumental in developing the slot lottery at LaGuardia
Airport in New York that helped minimize system delays during the
summer of 2000. She also served as the FAA’s acting Associate
Administrator for the Office of Airports.
Maillett started her career at the FAA as a member of the
International Affairs and Legal Policy Staff for the Office of the
Chief Counsel and was the Director and Deputy Director of the
Office of Environment and Energy.
A career government employee...
Before joining the FAA, Maillett was an attorney for the Peace

Department of State.
Maillett received her bachelor-of-arts degrees from Assumption
College in political science and English and law degree from the
University of Maine School of Law. She is a member of the Maine and
