Airplane Hits Hangar, Plane While Taxiing

No Serious Injuries Reported

Some days, it just doesn't pay to leave the hangar.

A Wisconsin pilot escaped serious injury Friday, when his Cessna 172 (type shown above) hit a hangar -- and the plane inside it -- while taxiing at Door County Cherryland Airport (SUE).

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Clark Zander was moving his plane when its throttle apparently stuck, sending the errant Skyhawk towards the hangar. Another Cessna was reportedly inside.

Zander's plane, the second Cessna, and the hangar all received extensive damage, according to airport director Keith Kasbohm. He estimated Zander's plane rolled about 200 feet before impacting the hangar.

The FAA was notified, and gave permission for the two planes to be removed from the hangar. No one else was seriously injured in the accident.
