Visiongain's analysis indicates that the world commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market will reach a value of $49.2 billion in 2013 because of growing demand for maintenance services to handle the global fleet of commercial aircraft. The commercial aircraft MRO market is forecast by Visiongain to experience growth over the next decade providing numerous business opportunities.
The expansion of air travel will ensure an increase in production rates for new aircraft which should give MRO providers ample opportunities for new business. But newer aircraft, which require less maintenance than older aircraft which are now coming into retirement age, will require MRO providers to invest in adding new training techniques and new tooling in order to attain relevant certification. This is something that many smaller third party providers will struggle to achieve by themselves. The increasing presence of OEMs into the after sales market is likely to alter the make-up of the MRO market
