Lindbergh Foundation Offers Chance To Spend A Day Flying With John & Martha King

Ride On Kings' Falcon 10 With Friends!

The Lindbergh Foundation told ANN this week of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for pilots and aviation enthusiasts nationwide. In connection with the Foundation's 30th annual Lindbergh Award Celebration, a silent auction will be held for a dream-day with John and Martha King, founders of King Schools, Inc.

Erik Lindbergh tells ANN the winning bidder for the auction -- to be held during the Lindbergh Foundation Annual Awards Celebration in St. Paul, MN on May 16 -- will get:

  • A walk-around preflight inspection of the King Schools Falcon 10 jet, led by John and Martha King, followed by,
  • A flight for you and five of your friends around the San Diego area with the renowned duo at the controls, after which
  • The famous Kings will personally guide your group on a tour of the King Schools facilities at MYF, complete with some "on camera" time for you in their studios (with a takeaway DVD for bragging rights).
  • Finally, it's dinner for all of you as guests of John and Martha.

The 'dream day' auction ties in with the theme for this year's celebration: "Perspectives on the Earth -- From Home, Above & Beyond." National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Dr. J. Michael Fay will receive the Foundation's 2007 Lindbergh Award.

Recognizing the 80th anniversary of Charles Lindbergh's historic New York-to-Paris flight, the Foundation will present a Spirit Award to Astronaut Eugene Cernan, the last man on the moon.

Author and Architect Sarah Susanka will receive an Anne Morrow Lindbergh Award in recognition of her "Not So Big" philosophy of residential architecture and respect for sustainability in building. And, we will be presenting the second annual Corporate Award for Balance to Google. CNN's Miles O'Brien will serve as the Master of Ceremonies during the program and Erik Lindbergh, grandson of Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh, also will be in attendance.

The celebration will be held at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul. Guests will enjoy a reception, silent auction with a fantastic assortment of unique and collectible items, a lovely sit-down dinner, a program, at which each of the Foundation Awardees will give a presentation. A dessert buffet and book signing with Fay, Cernan, and Susanka will conclude the evening.

Based in Anoka, MN, the Lindbergh Foundation is a public non-profit organization which strives to encourage and inspire present and future generations to seek and apply technological solutions to improve our environment.

If you can't make it to the event, bids in the auction will also be accepted at the FMI link below.
