Well, Here's One Way To Reduce Airport Emissions...

Teams Participate In 'Tug-A-Plane' Contest At MIA

This may just be the way of the future... or, a way to deal with troublesome passengers: "OK, you over there, still talking on your cell phone... get out and start pulling!"

On Tuesday, teams of workers from a variety of businesses and organizations gathered on the tarmac at Miami International Airport. Their goal: to pull a 95,900-lbs 737 the farthest, using nothing but leg-power.

The event was for a good cause, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Each team ponied up $2,000 to the United Way of Miami-Dade County. American Airlines donated the narrowbody twinjet.

Perhaps it's no surprise the winning team consisted of 20 Miami-Dade Aviation Department employees, who pulled the 737 over 30 yards in just over 20 seconds. That beat teams from Unicco Service Company, Hilton Airport Hotel, DHL, and a number of American Airlines offshoots, including American Eagle.

This might be something the ANN staff could get in on... anyone have an unladen light-sport aircraft they'd like to donate? One with empty fuel tanks?
