Ohio C172 Fatalities May Be Tied To Fraternity Rush

Fraternity Says The Flight Was Not A Recruitment Event

The family of one of four Case Western Reserve University students fatally injured in an accident August 25 is weighing a wrongful death lawsuit that may involve a fraternity on the campus.

Abraham Pishevar, 18, was one of the four fatally injured when the Cessna 172R they were aboard went down shortly after takeoff on a "sightseeing" flight. The pilot, 19-year-old Micaehel Felton and one other person on board were members of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity.

ABC News reports that prior to the flight, Pishevar posted photos to the online service Snapchat saying that he was "about to go on a night flight" and added the word "rush" to the post. It is not clear if that word was associated with the fraternity ... or just that he thought going on the flight would be a "rush."

His family is now seeking insurance and other records from the fraternity and the flying club which rented the plane to Felton.

The ZBT fraternity said in a statement that the flight was not a recruitment event. The family said it did not know that Pishevar was even interested in joining a fraternity.
