Popular G1000 Safety Course Now Offered On CD-ROM

Max Trescott Shows You Everything Glass Panels Have To Offer

Glass cockpits are an exciting innovation in general aviation that offer the potential for enhanced safety... but how many owners of planes equipped with glass panels know how to operate all the important safety features those advanced instruments have to offer? Well, the folks at Glass Cockpit Publishing says they have a solution for at least one popular panel -- the company announced Thursday the release of their new CD-ROM course for the Garmin G1000.

Glass Cockpit Publishing says the CD-ROM course builds on the popularity of Master CFI Max Trescott's Glass Cockpit Handbook, as well as their online internet G1000 training courses available at the company's website.

"Whether you're a beginner or an expert, this course will help you master the basics or teach you the fine points of glass cockpit operation," Trescott tells ANN. "This course not only explains the G1000 system, but teaches you how the features relate to everyday flying."

Trescott adds his Garmin G1000 CD-ROM Course is the only G1000 CD-ROM course with the Searchable Learning System that makes learning fun and lets you easily find any information. Three views let you choose whether to zoom in for full screen displays of the presentation, or to select a view that includes the Searchable Learning System features.

The course includes:

  • More than six hours on two CD-ROM's making it 50% longer than other courses
  • Large, full screen views of displays
  • Movie screen captures of operating knobs and softkeys
  • Printable G1000 front panel displays, glossary, IFR process chart and approach plates
  • Tips from factory and Master CFI's
  • Narration by two CFI's for easy listening
  • Keyword searchable slides and transcripts
  • Indented outline that makes it easy to quickly navigate to any topic
  • Optional quizzes to reinforce key points
  • Files that run on Windows, Macintosh and Linux

Glass Cockpit Publishing says the VFR CD-ROM teaches pilots everything you need to know prior to taking an initial transition flight in a G1000-equipped aircraft. The IFR CD-ROM first presents IFR as a structured process, providing an overview of IFR for instrument students and instrument rated pilots alike. It thoroughly covers all of the major elements that IFR pilots need to remember during each phase of an IFR flight, and integrates use of the G1000 into each of the IFR processes.

The course retails for $99.95. If you'd like to sample the program before plunking down a C-note, the company offers a five-minute online demo, available at the FMI link below.
