Midwest FAs Ratify Agreement

Flight Attendants Pitch In, To Save, Solidify Airline

Midwest Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants, AFL-CIO, have ratified a cost-cutting agreement that will save the airline about $5 million over the next five years.

Seventy-two percent of flight attendants who cast their ballots voted for the contract. Nearly 74% of eligible flight attendants voted in the expedited five-day balloting process.

Union Makes Management's Promise

"The flight attendants have voted to make an important investment in our airline to help secure our careers and help our airline thrive in the years ahead," said AFA Midwest Master Executive Council President Toni Phillips.

"Our contribution will give management what it says it needs to move forward with the plan to return Midwest to stability and profitability; and once the airline begins meeting its goals, the flight attendants will be rewarded for their investment."

The cuts were spread out over several areas: changes in work rules, productivity and wages were made to avoid a severe cut in one area. And in return for their investment in the airline, flight attendants will participate in an income sharing plan and a stock option plan.

Midwest has approximately 400 flight attendants in AFA, the world's largest flight attendant union.
