Will Be Operated With Delta Air Lines Livery
Embraer has sold 16 new E175 jets to SkyWest, to be operated exclusively with the Delta Air Lines network, under a Capacity Purchase Agreement (CPA). The contract is valued at USD 798.4 million, based on list price. Beginning in the middle of 2022, deliveries of the 76-seat aircraft will begin.
Embraer's E175 series started with a stretch of the E170, entering service with Air Canada in 2005. The E175 typically seats around 78 passengers in a typical single class configuration, 76 in a dual-class configuration, and up to 88 in a high-density configuration. Powered with General Electric CF34-8E engines of 14,200 pounds of thrust, the E175 series has well over 600 birds in the field and another 200 on order. Max range is 2200 nm, while the max cruise is .82M. Max payload is 22,253 lb and the service ceiling is 41,000 feet.
Chip Childs, President and CEO of SkyWest notes that after the sale, SkyWest will have nearly 240 E175s operating in North America. “Our customers love the E175, and we have great confidence in and appreciate our partnership with Embraer,” he says. Of those 240 aircraft, 71 are currently operating for Delta.
Mark Neely, VP Sales and Marketing of Embraer Commercial Aviation, says “The E175 is the backbone of the North American regional market, and as the industry begins to emerge from the pandemic we are seeing growing long-term demand for rightsized aircraft to deliver profitable domestic connectivity."
"The E175 has been a lifeline for carriers as they are perfectly suited to rebuild routes, add frequencies, and add incremental capacity to meet rebounding domestic demand.”
