US Airways To Pay Workers For Improved Performance

Employees Stand To Earn Extra $100 If Goals Are Met

Happy Holidays, everybody... now get to work! US Airways has come up with an incentive the airline hopes will lift its customer rankings out of the proverbial gutter in December.

The airline plans to pay its employees $100 bonuses if flights leave on time and bags don't get lost during the busy travel season now underway.

To earn the bonus, workers will have to meet specific performance goals through December, reports The Associated Press. At least 60 percent of flights must depart on or before their scheduled times, and no more than seven per 1,000 bags must be "mishandled" -- the polite term for "lost," "stolen," or "destroyed beyond recognition."

The airline has a definite desire to raise its performance in the eyes of its customers... who, according to a recent Zagat survey, rated the airline dead last among both US legacy airlines and low-cost carriers for quality of the travel experience.

Each goal is worth $50 to the company's roughly 36,000 employees, for a maximum of $100 dollars each.
