Upgraded! Chad Nelson Named VP Of Operations At Mooney

Most Recently Director Of Manufacturing At Planemaker

Mooney Airplane Company recently announced the promotion of Chad Nelson to the position of Vice President of Operations at the company’s manufacturing facilities in Kerrville, Texas. Nelson, who joined Mooney in July, 2004, has served most recently as Director of Manufacturing. He previously held a variety of roles including Receiving Inspector, Second Shift Manager, and Lean Implementation Manager before being appointed the Director of Manufacturing.

"Chad’s promotion acknowledges the level of responsibility he has assumed in directing the general business operations of the company, and his crucial role in the development of both short term and long range strategic plans, communicating with the board of directors and investors, and building Mooney’s leadership team," said Dennis Ferguson, Mooney president and CEO.

"Under his leadership, our operations team has made excellent progress in rebalancing the line, expanding cross training, adopting Lean continuous improvement practices, and integrating a substantial number of subassemblies to the production line. These accomplishments and numerous others have been instrumental in helping us to adjust to our challenging market," he added.

A native of Tampa, FL, Nelson is a graduate of Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany. He graduated in 1979 from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York with a bachelor of arts in mass communications. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps where he spent the next 22 years, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel prior to his retirement in 2000.

While in the Marines, Nelson served as an A-6 Bombardier/Navigator for 10 years and spent another decade as a weapons officer in FA-18Ds.
