Selected As Company President Following Archer Resignation
Thielert AG CEO Frank
Thielert announced Wednesday that Kent Abercrombie has been
selected as the new President of Coppell, TX-based Superior Air
Parts.
"Kent has continually demonstrated exceptional leadership
qualities and has been an integral part of the development of the
business plan for Superior as it became part of Thielert AG,"
Thielert said. "Superior experienced 25% growth last year and we
expect further growth this year. On top of our PMA products we will
expand our engine program and offer the XP400 engine as a certified
product this year."
Abercrombie (shown at right) joined Superior in December of 2000
as the Director of Finance, and was promoted to VP of Finance in
September 2005. Abercrombie has been a part of the aviation
industry for 20 years holding previous positions with
Honeywell’s Aerospace Hardware Division and Aviall, Inc.
The selection of Abercrombie as president of the aftermarket
engine and parts manufacturer comes after the resignation of former
Superior president Tim Archer. In a statement to ANN, Archer
said he had "done what I set out to do," and it was time for him to
move onto other challenges.
"I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to
continuing Superior’s reputation for high quality performance
products. We have exceptionally talented employees with superior
engineering, product development, and sales personnel, and we will
continue to focus on exceeding our customers’
expectations."
Superior Air Parts, Inc, a division of Thielert AG of Germany,
is the manufacturer of the new FAA certified Vantage Engine. The
company is also the world’s leading manufacturer of FAA
approved aftermarket cylinders and replacement parts for Lycoming
and Continental aircraft engines.
