Shuttle Crew Arrives At KSC

Early!

The crew is on station at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, in preparation for a scheduled Wednesday return to flight. The Space Shuttle Discovery Crew arrived 1830 EDT Saturday on a Gulfstream Jet from Johnson Space Center in Houston.

The crew arrived a day early to avoid any hurricane related delays. The launch is scheduled for 1551 EDT on Wednesday July 13th. Preparations for the launch continue at Launch Pad 39B.

The vehicle was powered up and ordance connections are complete. The aft compartment closeout is complete. In the launch control center firing room three, countdown preparations are nearly complete.

Countdown begins at 1800 EDT on Sunday, at T-43 hours.

The Solid Rocket Booster retrieval ships Liberty Star and Freedom Star plan to depart from KSC at noon Tuesday to travel about 140 nautical miles downrange of the launch pad.
