uAvionics Announces 272-Aircraft AML For skyBeacon

FAA Policy Created To Allow Installation On Aircraft Not Listed

The FAA has released an Approved Model List (AML) for the uAvionics skyBeacon ADS-B device, and the company has begun shipping the products to customers who have pre-ordered the system.

The company says that customers who have placed a pre-order should have received a personalized email from uAvionics, but they need those customers' help to prepare their skyBeacon orders. A form has been created to gather aircraft information so we can make the skyBeacon install as smooth as possible. Customers will need their order number to complete the form.

The company adds that aircraft that are not on the AML will be able to get skyBeacon installed in your Part 23 aircraft, based on the lead STC/AML. The FAA created a policy to make it simple to use the lead STC to install ADS-B Out equipment on additional Part 23 air frames. This policy was designed to keep ADS-B installs moving smoothly and make things easier for your installer.

skyBeacon qualifies for the $500 FAA rebate. uAvionics has put together a guide on claiming the rebate from the FAA.

The company says that tailBeacon is coming, but has been delayed due to the delays for skyBeacon. They have communicated previously that tailBeacon is a spin-off of the skyBeacon certification - so necessarily they needed to complete the STC first. tailBeacon is the next priority.

uAvionics still expects to achieve the tailBeacon TSO by the end of the year, but the STC will likely push into early Q1 of 2019. The STC strategy will leverage heavily the Non-AML installation process detailed above. However, it will likely not be completed before the FAA ADS-B rebate program extension expires.
