Pilot Pulled From Cockpit

From Gerald R Ford Airport to Betty Ford Clinic?

American Eagle pilots have enough to think about, as their parent company teeters on the "precipice of bankruptcy;" but one American Eagle pilot may have plenty of time to think, according to an Associated Press article.

Tuesday's Flight 3786, with 36 souls on board, from Gerald R Ford in Grand Rapids (MI) to DFW, was supposed to have left at 6PM; it was 7 before it finally pushed back, with another pilot in the left seat.

News reports quote airport spokesman Bruce Schedlbauer as saying the pilot's blood alcohol content was measured at .12%. That's 50% over the driving limit, and three times the FAA's limit. It's six times the airline's limit.

At last report, the airline had the pilot, whose identity it is protecting, in its care. The pilot's breath raised eyebrows at a security checkpoint. As a result, he/she was taken from the plane, shortly before takeoff.
