Pilot's Eye View, Other Data Recorded For Later Review
Jeppesen has partnered with video capture and debriefing system
company Flyvie to develop and introduce a video flight recording
and debriefing solution to enhance the general aviation training
experience.
The new flight capture hardware combined with Jeppesen’s
industry-leading aviation training programs and course materials
will create a dynamic integrated training solution. The new video
capability also will be used as a component of the Jeppesen
Skymanager system, which is used by flight training organizations
to coordinate and manage student pilot training programs.
“Implementing web-based training solutions developed with
Flyvie technology and Jeppesen expertise and integration
capabilities will revolutionize the experience for student pilots
throughout their flight training program,” said David Wright,
Jeppesen senior manager, Training Solutions. “Through this
partnership with Flyvie, we have the opportunity to improve the
effectiveness of flight training and the methodologies used train
the next generation of general aviation pilots.”
Flyvie systems capture and record video from two cameras, and
also GPS data and audio from internal and external aircraft
communication. Captured imagery includes the pilot’s view as
well as the instrument panel and the pilot’s manipulation of
the flight controls. The recorded flight path can then be viewed
through Google Earth using Flyvie’s web based
applications.
