Ultra-Efficient Fuel Delivery System for Electronically
Controlled Jet Engines
Development of a breakthrough new Ultra-Efficient
Fuel Delivery System for electronically controlled jet engines has
been announced by Argo-Tech Corporation. Incorporating new pumping
technology and combining several existing engine fuel accessories
into one fuel delivery system, the C.E.N.T.S. Fuel Delivery System
reduces fuel system operating temperature, and is up to four times
more fuel efficient than the system it replaces. The company says
the new C.E.N.T.S. Fuel Delivery System can save an operator as
much as $5.00 per flying hour on a twin-engine jet aircraft, which,
added to maintenance and overhaul savings, could add up to lifetime
savings of $1,000,000 per aircraft.
Marketing Director Mesh Fiegenbaum told us, "We
intend to sell this straight into the STC market -- right to the
aftermarket, the people who can get the most benefit from it."
Overhaul costs of the components that are to be replaced by the new
technology, should approximately equal the costs of the C.E.N.T.S.
upgrade.
The C.E.N.T.S. Fuel Delivery System (for Cost Effective
Next-generation Technology Systems) is currently on test at
Argo-Tech's Cleveland headquarters and has already successfully
completed the equivalent of one year's flight experience. Several
major jet engine OEMs have positively responded and are preparing
plans to perform testing at their facilities. Argo-Tech anticipates
initial deliveries in 2005.
The C.E.N.T.S. Fuel Delivery System can be
retrofitted to the more than 10,000 electronically controlled
commercial aircraft engines currently in service, and is a method
for Argo-Tech to bring its C.E.N.T.S. Fuel Delivery System
solutions directly into the engine aftermarket. The result is a
breakthrough innovation that "Makes money for the customer, and
provides cash flow to Argo-Tech."
Argo-Tech Corporation designs and manufactures high-performance
fuel flow devices for the aerospace industry. The Company is the
world's leading supplier of main engine fuel pumps to the aviation
industry and a leading supplier of airframe products, aerial
refueling systems, ground refueling systems, and industrial
liquefied gas pumps and nozzles.
