Brad Sims has been named chancellor of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.

Before joining Embry-Riddle, he spent four years as dean of the College of Technology at Indiana State University. Sims has worked in private industry and also taught at Western Carolina University, University of Florida and Purdue University.

“I’m excited to support Embry-Riddle Worldwide in its global expansion efforts and continued evaluation and use of new and evolving technology,” he said. “Like other aspects of society, higher education must adapt to innovation and industry demand.”

With more than 150 locations throughout the U.S. and abroad, the Worldwide Campus offers instruction in-person, online and through a live, virtual classroom environment. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Embry-Riddle Worldwide as No. 5 for online bachelor’s degree programs.

Sims has a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from Purdue University and a master’s degree in building construction from the University of Florida. He and his family live in Ormond Beach.

Sims succeeds John R. Watret as chancellor of the Worldwide Campus. Watret is now senior vice president and chief operating officer for the university.
