NTSB To Hold Fifth Safety Seminar Targeted Towards GA

Session Will Focus On Preventing Aerodynamic Stalls And Loss Of Control Accidents

The NTSB is presenting a seminar highlighting the lessons learned from the NTSB’s investigations of general aviation accidents involving aerodynamic stalls and loss of control. Accidents attributed to “loss of control in-flight” are the most common defining events for fatal crashes in the personal flying sector of general aviation, accounting for about 40 percent of GA fatalities.

For this seminar, the NTSB has partnered with other organizations also committed to enhancing GA safety – the AOPA, the FAA, and the Society of Aviation and Flight Educators (SAFE) – who will all be participating in this event. NTSB Board Member Earl Weener (pictured) will be a featured presenter, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions of Member Weener, NTSB staff, and other presenters.

This event is the fifth in a series of safety seminars focused on preventing general aviation accidents. Pilots participating in the FAA’s WINGS program will receive credit for attendance.

The safety seminar will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 0900 to 1300 EDT at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia. The event is free and open to the public, but is limited to 200 attendees; early registration is highly recommended.
