Another Commercial Pilot Accused Of Trying To Fly While Intoxicated

Pakistani Pilot Removed From London-Lahore Flight

A 51-year old Pakistani pilot was arrested in Britain over the weekend when he boarded a Pakistan International Airlines 747 to fly it from Manchester to Lahore. British authorities say the man will be held "pending further tests" until at least March 24th.

The aircraft, with 350 passengers on board, was delayed for approximately 90 minutes while the captain was detained and a replacement rushed on board.

British standards require eight hours "bottle to throttle."

There is also a national blood-alcohol content law for pilots in Britain. The legal limit is 20 milligrams of alcohol for each 100 milliliters of blood -- half the limit afforded to drivers in Britain.
