Avfuel Announces 2021 Scholarship Winners

2022 Scholarship to Open in Spring

Avfuel Corporation released the names of the 4 winners of its 2021 shcolarships, announcing that Kenneth Evers, recipient of the AVTRIP Scholarship, would use the $2,000 to become a flight instructor.

The other 3 received the Pilot-in-Training Scholarship, each obtaining up to $1,500 for flight training. Emily Castellucci, Griffin Schaffer and Aaron Slatton can each pursue educational improvements and enhancements in the field of aviation.

This year marked the 23rd year since the scholarship’s inception, and the 4th since Avfuel expanded the program with additional positions. Applications for the 2022 round will be accepted on the site sometime this spring.

The winner of the biggest outlay, Kenneth Evers, is a safety officer and line pilot from Forsyth, Missouri, and if all goes well, will soon be a certificated flight instructor. He has flown Part 135 and Part 91 as PIC and SIC, as well as headed a safety management system for operations and procedures. Evers sees his career path as an international jet pilot and safety expert, with a lifelong habit of teaching entry-level flight instruction at his local flight school.

Castellucci, of Columbus, Ohio, will use her funding to pursue additional flight training, hoping to succeed her late father's flight ambitions.

Schaffer, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, will use his $1,000 to log time at Embry Riddle before moving onwards and upwards as a cargo and freight pilot.

Slatton, of New Haven, Indiana, will put his $500 towards his private pilot license before obtaining his CFI and aiding veterans transition to civilian life through flight.
