Source: Stanley Solomon, a senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, on his group's study on the effects global warming has on objects floating above Earth. The study asserts carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels are helping to keep orbiting spacecraft airborne longer, by reducing atmospheric drag. The same effect, however, also increases the threat that space junk poses to satellites.
