Couple Charged With Buzzing HS Football Game

It's Never Good When The Audience Includes FBI, FAA Officials

And now, ANN's latest episode of "What Were They Thinking..?" A 52-year-old pilot and his 42-year-old girlfriend both face charges after the man flew his single-engine plane over a high school football game in Sandusky, OH... at an altitude witnesses said was just 10-15 feet above nearby telephone poles.

The Associated Press reports Diana Mulvin thought the low pass, complete with a smoke machine on, would get her son's Perkins High School football team pumped up for the game. So she reportedly talked her boyfriend into the stunt.

Perkins Township Police Chief Tim McClung called it "...an unbelievably bad idea."

The pilot, Daniel Lake, was charged by police with inducing a panic. Diana was changed with complicity.

To add insult to injury, in the crowd at the time were an FBI agent and an FAA official... so there's little doubt Lake can expect a strong letter to arrive in his mailbox.

And as if all that weren't consequence enough, the stunt obviously didn't work out as a motivational tactic.

Perkins High got blown out by Huron, 27-7.
