Enstrom Helicopter Corporation is continuing flight testing on the new TH180 helicopter.

Originally announced at the 2014 HAI show, Enstrom has since taken a number of signed memorandums of understanding on the new helicopter designed for the ab-initio flight training, light commercial, and private owner market. All Certified Flight Instructors are required to renew their certificates every two years. Options for renewal are to attend a flight instructor refresher clinic, referred to as a FIRC, or take a checkride with the FAA. FIRCs can be either a weekend classroom presentation or an online training course. Now, King schools has made the process easier and more controlled by the CFI. Earlier this month, the Sunseeker Duo, a solar-powered two-place airplane built by Solar Flight, crossed the Alps twice with two people on board. The mission was to stop and show the airplane at different airports. For the final destination, Munster-Geschinen airfield in Switzerland was chosen. Eric and Irena Raymond flew to Torino Aeritalia airport on August 2nd, then continue to Switzerland. On August 3rd, they crossed the high mountains near Zermatt. After a few detours to other locations, the distance flown was approximately 207 nautical miles and the maximum altitude they reached was about 13,400 feet. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
