Pratt & Whitney Signs Agreement With Azul

Will Support E195-E2 Jets Powered By PurePower Engines

Pratt & Whitney and Azul have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a Fleet Management Program supporting off-wing maintenance for 30 firm Embraer E195-E2 jets plus options for 20 aircraft, powered by PurePower engines. The PurePower PW1900G engine is the sole source powerplant on the E190-E2 and the E195-E2 jets. Deliveries are anticipated to begin in 2020.

"The integration of the industry-changing PurePower engine with Embraer's acclaimed E-Jets E2 will provide Azul exceptional performance for many years," said Greg Gernhardt, president, Pratt & Whitney Commercial Engines.

"We know that this aircraft equipped with PurePower engines will help to support our goals as we grow exponentially. We are certain that this aircraft will not only provide us great performance benefits, but also reduce our operational costs as well," said Azul's COO Flavio Costa.

The PurePower engine family has completed more than 19,000 hours and 34,000 cycles of full engine testing, including 5,000 hours of flight time.
