EASA Certifies FreeFlight Systems Radar Altimeter

Company Continues To Expand European Presence

Avionics supplier FreeFlight Systems announced Wednesday that Heli Air Monaco has received EASA certification for the RA-4000 Radar Altimeter installed in Eurocopter AS350, AS355 and EC130 helicopters. The certifications cover most of Heli Air Monaco’s fleet of 14 helicopters used in scheduled and on-demand passenger, freight and other services. The EASA certifications also continue FreeFlight Systems’ strong position in the European market and in helicopters extensively used by commercial, military, law enforcement, private and other operators worldwide. Heli Air Monaco also is working on additional certifications.

In addition to its scheduled service to Nice, France, Heli Air Monaco offers a variety of travel packages to world-renowned resort locations, custom and on-demand flight arrangements, sightseeing flights and “Check and Fly” luggage service to and from passengers’ final destinations. Heli Air Monaco also is an authorized service center for Eurocopter helicopters. Its maintenance and avionics staff are highly regarded and include the EASA Part 21J and Part 145 regional Head of Design Organisation for that ensuring helicopter modifications meet regulatory requirements.
 
Small, lightweight and straightforward to install, FreeFlight Systems RA-4000 radar altimeter is ideal for helicopter and seaplane operations where accuracy is needed to zero feet. With the easy-to-read RAD-40 panel-mount LED display, pilot-selectable decision height and 5 trip-point altitude alerts, the RA-4000 also fulfills the EASA requirement (JAR-OPS 3.660) for radar altimeters in helicopters used in overwater, low-visibility or nighttime flights. The system includes dual antennas and is certified to TSO-C87 and ETSO-2C87.
