NJ Governor's Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing

Guv Then Gets An Earful About Airport Rights

This story certainly highlights the importance of being in the right place, at the right time.

It all started Monday morning, when a New Jersey State Police helicopter carrying Governor Jon Corzine (right) made an emergency landing at Readington's Solberg Airport, after a warning indicator came on in the cockpit.

The pilot of the chopper made a thoroughly routine emergency landing... and Corzine was back in the air -- albeit in another helo -- within half an hour.

But that's not the whole story... for in the time it took for Corzine's new ride to arrive, Solberg Airport co-owner Suzanne Solberg Nagle used the opportunity to bend the governor's ear regarding efforts by Readington Township officials to buy out the airport's property rights -- and close the field.

According to wire reports, Nagle called the chance to speak with Corzine "a wonderful opportunity" -- and said the governor "was gracious to come up and talk" about the matter.

Talk about opportunity descending from the sky... and just think, Governor, what could have happened had that airport NOT been there.
