FAA Certifies Honeywell DU-875 LCD Cockpit Screen Upgrade On Global Express

Pentastar Aviation Obtains Certification For The Installation

The FAA has awarded an AML STC to Pentastar Aviation for certification of Honeywell’s DU-875 flight deck display upgrade on Global Express airframes.  The DU-875 is a form-fit plug-n-play LCD upgrade that will replace the soon-to-be-obsolete CRT DU-870 CRT displays found in older aircraft. Honeywell plans to discontinue product support and repair on the DU-870 displays in the near future.

Pentastar’s AML STC eliminates the need for modifications to the cockpit, and requires no changes to the existing aircraft wiring or additional pilot training, which ensures limited aircraft downtime. The AML will be expanded to include the following airframes also equipped with Honeywell DU-870 displays: Citation X, Citation Bravo (550 model), Citation Ultra/Encore/Excel (560 model), Falcon 900C/EX, which will be completed later this year.

“The DU-875 is a low-risk upgrade allowing for minimal aircraft downtime, has higher display reliability and resolves obsolescence issues,” said Jesse Beard, Pentastar Aviation’s Avionics and Engineering Manager. “There is also reduced cost of ownership and a growth path to future technologies.”

The LCD display units, which can be replaced individually or as a complete suite, provide a path to Elite and Advanced features through additional software and hardware upgrades. In addition, the LCD display is significantly lighter than the older display- providing weight reduction and fuel savings.

For a limited time, Honeywell is offering a $40,000 trade-in incentive per display replacement.

The Pentastar avionics team – which delivers an unmatched combination of quality, technology, superior customer service, and meticulous attention to detail – has decades of experience providing industry-leading avionics system integration design, STC development, and service and maintenance on the most sophisticated avionics systems in the marketplace today.
