SAIC Awarded $12 Million Contract From USAF Weather Agency

Company To Provide Life-Cycle Program, Lead Command Management Support

Science Applications International Corporation announced Wednesday it has been awarded a delivery order under the US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) Systems and Mission Support II (USAMS II) prime contract managed by the 55th Contracting Squadron (55 CONS). This delivery order is to provide advisory and assistance services to the US Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) for life-cycle program management support.

The single-award, follow-on delivery order has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options and a total value of more than $12 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily at Offutt Air Force Base, NE.

AFWA delivers accurate, relevant, and timely weather and space environment information, products, and services, to the Nation's combat forces anywhere in the world. They directly impact military decision superiority by enhancing awareness and enabling commanders to anticipate and exploit environmental information. Under the contract, SAIC will continue to provide program management and life-cycle support; and technical documentation of engineering, installation, testing, and validation of operational capabilities including instrumentation, computer hardware and software, and communications equipment.

"SAIC has been providing the Air Force weather community with advisory and assistance services for the past 15 years," said Tom Baybrook, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. "We look forward to continuing our support, delivering quality services and counsel that help them accomplish their critical missions."
