Air Show Pilot, Eddie Andreini, Fatally Injured By Burns, Coroner Says

Painful Info: Andreini's Plane Burned After Air Show Accident During Travis AFB Air Show In May

The Solano County (CA) Coroner said late last week that air show pilot Eddie Andreini, whose plane went down during an air show at Travis Air Force Base May 4th, died of burns suffered in the post-accident fire rather than from the impact.

The ruling may have a bearing a potential lawsuit under consideration by the pilot's family.

The lawsuit may be based on what some say is a slow response time to the accident. Larry Smigla, the director of the Mustangs and More Air Show held at Vacaville Nut Tree Airport in CA, told television station KTVU that one person was fighting the fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher, but there were still no trucks on the scene three-and-a-half minutes after the accident occurred. The timing was based on a video that was shot by a spectator at the show.

The Air Force is not commenting on the response time to the accident, but has offered condolences to Andreini's family.
