RDD Announces Major Upgrade For Lancair IV-P

LX7 Replaces Original Wings, Aft Fuselage, And Tail Components

A major upgrade has been announced for the Lancair IV and IV-P airframes by RDD Enterprises, LLC.

The conversion has been dubbed LX7. It replaces the original wings, aft fuselage and tail with new components utilizing lighter and stronger materials as well as modern airfoils with improved slow flight and stall characteristics. Each LX7 will be provisioned with all new electrical systems and components and include an aircraft parachute, and a 3 screen Integrated Flight Deck. There have also been upgrades to the interior of the aircraft.

“The Lancair IV-P has long been the standard of efficiency and speed for personal aircraft,” stated Mark Mahnke, a principal at RDD. “This new conversion opens up that historic performance to a new generation of pilots.

“We feel that adding the most modern safety features to the classic performance of the Lancair IV will be a home run for today’s pilot.”

“We have cleared many of the design hurdles utilizing the latest in computer aided design software,” said Eric Schmidlin, RDD project manager. “Our goal is to provide an outstanding passenger comfort level with engaging flight response for the pilot.” World class engineering has been employed to ensure each part of the LX7 meets the overall goals of the product. Tooling has been produced for some of the parts and final assembly of the first aircraft is expected Spring 2016.
