Aero-TV At SnF21: We Got The Blues! Blue Angel 6 Talks 2021 Airshow Season

New Super Hornets And A Much Upgraded C-130J Make Their First Appearances At Lakeland

Aero-News Network’s Feature Editor for the Sun n Fun Aerospace Expo 2021, Maria Morrison, won the coin toss and the chance to undertake a coveted interview with one of the pilots for the United States Navy Blue Angels -- This year performing in the new and much upgraded Super Hornets. Even better, the Blue Angels have also deployed a much upgraded C-130 Super Hercules, a J model, to support them in their airshow endeavors.

Maria got some quality time with LCDR Cary Rickoff, Blue Angel Pilot Number 6, in which they had the chance to chat about the transition to the Super Hornet, some of the issues they had coming out of 2020, and his thoughts for the upcoming season. The public's first chance to see the Blue Angels’ performances in the Super Hornets were pretty impressive. Despite the transition to a new airplane; and make no mistake about it, the Super Hornet is a different bird from its predecessor, the Blues showed no hesitancy in adopting the airplane and making it their own. Formations were tight, maneuvers were precisely timed, and as usual, the Blue Angels thrilled one and all.
