"The pilot did make contact with the air tower, with the control tower and told them that he was having difficulty breathing."

Source: North Las Vegas Fire Department Capt. Jim Wittmer Thursday, in an interview with KLAS-TV News, after a Propject Commander pilot began suffering what ended up as a fatal heart attack. In spite of the complexity of the twin turboprop, in spite of the fact he hadn't flown anything but gliders -- and that, 25 years ago -- one of the two unnamed passengers on board was able to bring the aircraft to a rough landing short of the strip at North Las Vegas.
