Georgia Governor Perdue Guest Speaker At Atlanta Aero Club

Lance Toland Will Also Discuss Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is scheduled as the featured guest speaker for the regular bi-monthly meeting of the Atlanta Aero Club July 16th.  Governor Perdue, an aviation enthusiast and commercial pilot, will discuss the new Aviation Authority Program.

Also scheduled to speak is aviation veteran Lance Toland who serves as Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame and has been a member of the Museum of Aviation's Foundation Board since its inception in 1983. Toland has been instrumental in fund raising and developing awareness for both the Museum and the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame which was founded in 1989 and is part of the Museum of Aviation located at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. 

"This is one of the most important meetings in our clubs' storied history." said Steve Champness, President of the Atlanta Aero Club. "I can't think of a better way to celebrate our 25th anniversary than to have the Honorable Sonny Perdue address our membership,"

Governor Perdue, now in his second term, earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1971 from the University of Georgia. Following his service as a Captain in the United States Air Force, Perdue became a successful small business owner, concentrating in agribusiness and transportation. Governor Perdue is a champion of General Aviation and often utilized his single engine Bellanca Viking Aircraft in delivering his campaign message leading to his election as the 81st Governor of Georgia in 2003. In addition to a Commercial aviation license, Perdue also holds instrument and helicopter ratings.
