FAA Grants STC For MTV-12 3-Blade Prop For Piper Aircraft

Can Now Be Installed On Piper PA-30, PA-39 Twin Comanche

The FAA has granted an STC (SA03563NY) to MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH for the next generation a 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-12-C-C-F/CF(L)180-57 on the Piper PA-30, PA-39 Twin Comanche.

This installation is already covered by EASA STC 10047589 and TCCA Canada SA13-34 (by Eagle Aircraft Inc).

MT-Propeller President Gerd Muehlbauer says, that the installation enhances take-off distance by approx. 15 % (MTOW, SL, ISA conditions) and single engine climb performance by approx. 10 % (MTOW, SL, ISA conditions. It also improves cruise performance by 2 to 3 kts (MTOW, ISA), and reduces noise and cabin vibration due to the prop's composite fabrication.

The smaller diameter of the MT-Propeller for the Piper PA-30/39 has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion, the company says.

The MT-Propeller composite blades have no life limitation, and are repairable. The company says they also provide best vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and have bonded on nickel alloy leading edges for superior erosion protection of the blades.
