Ice From Plane Leads To Call For Investigation

Tonight, on CSI: Lav Duty...

Call it Crime Scene Investigation: Lavatory.

No, CBS isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel for television shows (at least, not here)... rather, it's the latest news out of England, where a lump of ice fell from the sky recently, and hit a car belonging to 25-year-old Stephanie Cole.

The ice chunk -- which authorities say fell from an aircraft passing overhead -- caused about $1,300 worth of damage... which Stephanie had to pay for out of her pocket.

Or will she? As it turns out, Cole has a minister of parliament in her corner... who says the Department of Transport should pay for tests on the ice, to determine... that's right... which plane it fell from, so the airline can then be called on to cough up the needed coin.

That plan has run into opposition from the Civil Aviation Authority... which says airlines have no control whatsoever over those rare times when ice falls from a plane's fuselage.

Now, given that most chunks of ice that fall from planes are from the aircraft's waste disposal system... we're not quite sure how the identity of the plane would be determined from analyzing the blue gift from above.

And frankly, we don't want to know.
