EASA Certifies CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Center

Becomes An Approved Training Organization

EASA has formally certified the CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Center (MPTC), a joint venture of CAE and the Ministry of Finance of Brunei Darussalam, as an Approved Training Organization (ATO).

The CAE Brunei MPTC was certified under the ATO held by CAE's Oslo Training Center in Norway. By leveraging CAE's existing S-92 training curriculum and standards, the CAE Brunei MPTC was able to accelerate its certification as an ATO.

Beginning in 2016, the CAE Brunei MPTC will have the capability to deliver EASA-approved training, including instructor-led ("wet") initial and recurrent training, for the Sikorsky S-92 helicopter. The S-92 "wet" training solution offered at the CAE Brunei MPTC includes academic classroom training in addition to S-92 simulator training on a CAE 3000 Series S-92 full-flight simulator (FFS). The CAE Brunei MPTC also offers operator-led "dry" training on the S-92 FFS.

"Being able to offer customers the ability to bring their own instructors for dry lease training, or have our own qualified instructors deliver S-92 training, means we can offer our offshore oil and gas customers very flexible training options," said Kevin Speed, General Manager, CAE Brunei MPTC. "We are very pleased EASA has certified our S-92 training, which offers further evidence that we have established a truly world-class training center in Brunei."

In addition to S-92 helicopter training, the CAE Brunei MPTC offers a comprehensive training program for the Pilatus PC-7 training aircraft, including a CAE-built PC-7 flight training device. In 2016, the CAE Brunei MPTC will take delivery of a CAE 3000 Series S-70i Black Hawk helicopter simulator and begin offering a comprehensive training program for the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk.

The CAE Brunei MPTC is also establishing an Emergency and Crisis Management Center of Excellence that will provide relevant local authorities with comprehensive training designed to better plan and prepare for emergencies. Using simulation-based training, the CAE Brunei MPTC will offer emergency and crisis management training programs that will help improve coordination, response and operational decision-making during a range of emergency scenarios. The CAE Brunei MPTC will also be offering emergency and crisis management training to the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN).
