Last Flyable CH-21 Donated To Arkansas Air Museum

Aircraft Had Been Restored By Donor's Father, A Vietnam-Era Pilot

After Max Hall retired from the Army as a helicopter pilot serving in Vietnam, he bought the bones of a 1956 CH-21, and over the years, restored the aircraft to an airworthy condition. It was reported to be the last flying example of the helo.

Hall had the help of many Vietnam vets, who his daughter Robin Lundstrum said came on vacations to Springdale, AR to help with the project.

Hall passed away 14 years ago, according to a story appearing on television station KFSM/KXNW. And on Halloween, the aircraft made its final flight to the Arkansas Air Museum in Fayetteville, where it will be on display.

Lundstrum said that donating the aircraft that had been her father's pride and joy was "emotional," but "once we landed I was a little teary but it's the right thing at the right time."

Lundstrum got to take that final flight to the museum in the CH-21. It was officially accepted in a ceremony held Saturday, and will be on display for all visitors to the museum to enjoy.
