Sikorsky Aircraft Opens North Texas Design Engineering Center

Fort Worth Facility Employs Approximately 100 Workers

In a ceremony last week, Texas Secretary of State Roger Williams presided over the formal opening of the new Sikorsky design engineering facility in Fort Worth, TX.

US Congresswoman Kay Granger, Fort Worth Mayor Michael Moncrief and more than 100 other guests and Sikorsky employees attended the dedication ceremony at the 25,000-square-foot facility located at 4800 Overton Plaza.

"The Fort Worth System Integration Center is an important component of Sikorsky's overall strategic growth plan," said Jeffrey Pino, Sikorsky president. "Today, Sikorsky Aircraft proudly joins the rich and pre-eminent aerospace tradition here in Fort Worth. This culture of aviation excellence will help us to deliver both immediate and long-lasting contributions to some of Sikorsky's and the aerospace industry's most exciting development programs."

Sikorsky's current production programs include the Black Hawk and Naval Hawk helicopters for the U.S. government and international customers, and the S-76 and S-92 helicopters for commercial customers. Development programs include the CH-53K for the US Marine Corps, the CH-148 Cyclone for the Canadian Maritime program, the new S-76D helicopter, Black Hawk and Naval Hawk upgrades, and the X2 Technology demonstrator.

Mark Miller, Sikorsky vice president, engineering, said the Fort Worth System Integration Center will complement the Sikorsky Dynamic Systems and Avionics Integration design teams.

"Initially, the work completed at this facility will directly support the CH-53K heavy-lift program, but in the broader sense, this center will enhance and support Sikorsky's future growth needs beyond that program," Miller said.

Approximately 100 aerospace workers, drawn mostly from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, will staff the center to conduct dynamic systems design work and avionics integration. The company also has opened engineering design centers staffed by third-party engineering service providers in Indiana and Kentucky.
